Growing Up

Dear Ian,

You are almost 8 weeks old and I can hardly believe the changes I have seen from you just from these past two days. Are we over the supposed 6 to 8 week peak in fussiness? Even if we aren't, I still fall in love with you more and more each day. But thank goodness you are getting better because mommy was about to lose it, just ask daddy.

You now tolerate being put down and love your activity mat and bouncer. You love watching the tv and I know, bad mommy, but I do need to get stuff done around the house. Your favorite right now is baby genius nursery rhymes and your favorite song is BINGO. You laugh everytime you see the dogs running around and I am hoping that this is a sign that you will be a huge dog lover like your daddy and I. You also love tummy time to build strong muscles. I think you will be an athlete, a baseball player or a tennis champion. Your lolo has dreams of you being the first fil-am pro golfer. We will see. But get that scholarship okay!! Because college is expensive. No pressure though!

Oh and get this, you are starting to self soothe. Yes, you need a pacifier but you can actually somewhat be put down in your pack and play and get sleepy. We aren't there yet but we will. Your sleeping has for the most part been really good for a newborn. Mainly five to six hour stretches but last night you woke up after only 3 hours. I will give you a pass since you aren't two months yet but shape up boy, mama needs her beauty sleep.

Physically, you have grown so much and I can say this because I am your mother, "you are fat!". Shy of 2 months by a week and a half and you are almost 14 pounds. That is six pounds up from your birth weight. You love to eat and although the cluster feeding has stopped, you still chomp like a champ. Here are two photos of you to compare:

Love always,
Mommy
